Hey everyone. I'm 25 years old female, who never had a background/childhood playing different sports or being active (besides doing general weight-lifting and some cardio/interval classes in the gym without any proper guidance/knowledge). I studied and worked in Hospitality for 5 years and decided it was dogshit and changed my career to Fitness. Got my Cert III and IV in Fitness this August and honestly, I don't know what exercise to prescribe to people. I'm currently starting out in the front office of a chain gym answering calls from new members asking about membership options, and learning the basics of the fitness industry (eg the software, programs, leads gathering, management and sales etc). I will coach group classes (Strong, Shred, HIIT, etc) in the upcoming weeks to gain some experience giving out exercise instructions to a group of people.
But what about personal training, what book can I read for an absolute beginner who doesn't know anything about the human body or how the human body works? Especially in movements/sports? What else can I do to head in the right direction to become a PT without overwhelming myself?
P/s: My friends suggested I should try out different sports and see what I like to specialise in. Well, I have been doing Olympic Weightlifting for 10 months and just starting out doing Crossfit for a couple of weeks. I also do rock climbing once a week to learn more through movements. Training myself is totally different than training others.
PLEASE HELP!!!
