I’m 27 yo. Let’s say I retire at 67 for easy math and since that’s the age when social security benefits start kicking in. So I’ll be working for the next 40 years.
I’ve been maxing out on my 401k, contributing 24%, currently accumulating $89,000 and growing at roughly 6% interest rate annually.
My employer matches at max 5% since the policy is that they match half of what I put in. So if I reduced my contribution from 24% to 10%, then that’s the lowest I can reduce and still have my employer match me at THEIR max.
I currently make roughly $90,000/yr with a $5000 bonus.
I want my golden years to be spent with the lifestyle of someone who makes $120k/yr.
Let’s say my golden years are 67-97 (or 30 years).
How much can I reduce my contribution from 24% and still be able to achieve this retirement goal of mine?
Thanks in advance for your help!
