Accidentally paid next year’s taxes, not this year’s. What can I do?
Post Body

Paid online using the IRS portal. Made the mistake of choosing 2022 instead of 2021 and ended up paying an “estimated tax” for next year. Now the IRS is saying I owe the full amount plus interest and penalties by the 27th or I’m subject to even larger penalties.

I can’t afford to pay my taxes twice this year. Has anyone had success transferring a payment for next year to apply to this year?

I am not subject to requirements to pay estimated tax. Been calling for days but always end up getting messages to call back tomorrow. Can’t get a human being and doesn’t look like there’s a way to fix this online.
