Incomplete registration temporary car insurance

I have a car that hasn't been driven for most of the pandemic. I have decided to clean it up and sell it. Registration recently expired and I cancelled the insurance a while back. I have paid the new registration fee, though without a smog I have 'incomplete registration' status. To pass smog I am going have to drive it around for a bit.

I want to get short term insurance so I can get in the 100-200 miles necessary before smog. However I cannot find any companies offering insurance without complete registration (no surprise there). Has anyone had a similar situation and know of some low cost options? Thanks in advance!
