Are all investment vehicles equivalent on the same time horizon?

I have $XXk sitting in cash. I saved this because I'm planning to buy an investment property in the next year. However, keeping all that cash is a drag on my investment portfolio (it represents about 10% of my net worth). Considering that those funds are for investing (and not primary home purchase), does keeping it the stock market make sense?
