Pre & Post Tax On One Check
Post Body
Hello all, I initiated a rollover from my former employer 401(k) to my IRA and Roth IRA. I had a traditional and a Roth portion. I received two checks:
One all pre-tax for the traditional 401(k).
One 85% post-tax and 15% pre-tax for the Roth 401(k).
When I deposit these into my IRA and Roth IRA, should I immediately move the 15% pre-tax from the Roth deposit into my traditional to avoid a tax liability and penalty?
Happy to provide any additional information that may help.
Thank you and Happy Halloween!!
