Hey r/personalfinance !! My wife and I just got married and we're looking for advice on where to put our wedding money to help save for a house that we will aim to buy in about a year's time.

We have about 8 grand in total we would like to put somewhere and we're looking for some advice.

I currently have a vanguard account for a Roth IRA that earns 2% on average, however, I have only owned it since 2018. It's my understanding you most own it for 5 years and be a first time home buyer to take out without penalty. You can also only withdraw a Max of 10K.

I tried looking into CDs right now, but it seems they earn pretty bad rates at the moment.

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated as we are both entirely new to this!

Thanks!!

Any questions? Please ask away and I will answer as honest and accurately as I legally and safely can.
