A few hours ago, I got an email from "Yahoo" discussing a data breach lawsuit. The email address listed is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Before I do anything, I want to make sure it's not a scam.
The email itself looks legit enough, but spoof emails are good at that. Google didn't give me much except a few news articles, which may or may not be helpful. The email instructs me to file a claim online here. This website is not secure, as it does not use an https server. The website does not ask for my social security number or login info, but it does ask me for my name, mailing address, phone numbers, email, and other information. The email's verbage and grammar are pretty much consistent and coherent.
I have seen similar emails before, and they were legit as far as I can tell. But I just want to make absolutely sure this is definitely real before I proceed.
Thanks!
"EDit: One of the images showed my email address, so I had to crop it.
