I feel like it should be a lot worse. I checked it today and although it's not great (721) it's not as low as I expected.
- I have never worked any jobs aside from part-time minimum wage ones in the past.
- I was on disability for 8 years
- I have had a credit card for 9 years, the limit is 10k and I have an available balance of less than 5k...I make my minimum payments each month but don't make much progress on paying it off.
- I paid off most of my student loans, but went back to school and have about 4k to pay off so far. However, I won't need to pay it yet because I'm still in school.
I've been below the poverty line my whole life, have no mortgage or car or anything that is worth a good amount of money.
Can someone explain why my credit score isn't lower? I apologize if this is a silly question, I'm new to finances. Always assumed I'd live in poverty forever, but lately that has changed and I want to start having a healthy relationship with money.
