What app should I use to invest
Post Body

I want to start investing, I've been gathering information for the past 3-4 months on different trading methodologies and industries. Now that I feel ready to take the jump I'm wondering what app I should use, or if I should even use a newer app(Robinhood, acrons,M1) or stick with one of the bigger guys.

I'm partial to using one of the newer investment apps but I want the ability to buy and sell stocks (don't see myself selling unless an emergency happens, will most likely stay) along with buying into ETF's for different industries (got my eye on IPAY and HACK). Can anyone give me suggestions or explain to me the difference between using something new like Robinhood and something older like E-trade.

Edit: I do have a 401K through work but not a Roth. The main reason I want to start investing now is because of the Tech IPO's happening this year. Looking mainly for what others use to invest outside of maxing a 401K, Roth or an index fund.

Edit2: Thank you to everyone that gave me suggestions. It seems like I should look more into setting up a Roth IRA and use that to invest and to buy stocks. I will be looking more into how Roths work before setting anything in stone but this was a great learning opportunity for me. Still new to everything but this sub definitely helps a ton.
