Misc income 1099 not received

I have income earned misc non w2 income. I haven't received the 1099 form. I googled the company and saw some complaints about it on Twitter and apparently they don't send em out because they're not US based. Although they did take my SS# when I started working for them. Google says I can just fill out the 1099 misc information using what I know I earned. Question is if the payout is the 31st of the December 2018 but I don't receive the money until the 4th of January 2019 do I count that check as 2018 or 2019 income?
