So, my wife doesn't have a SSN of her own (immigrant issues). She signed up for Smile Direct Club with my credit card on a monthly payment plan. After about 6 months, my card number was stolen and I got a new card with a new number. Unfortunately, I didn't remember to contact Smile Direct to update the card number (honestly I forgot about it).

Fast forward to a couple of days ago and she got a collection notice for $1470 from a collection agency. I don't have this kind of money with me in one go. What's the best way forward? I don't want to be a dick, but I don't want to have to pay it all off in one go.

She (nor I) got any mail before this stating that the card was declined.
