TLDR: Looking for advice, tips, appropriate steps for the process of applying for a position that would be a promotion internally..
Backstory: I am currently employed as a chemist / microbiologist in a quality lab where I have done very minimal process improvement work. In my previous role at a different company I spearheaded multiple greenbelt projects that led to considerable annual savings (~$100K) for the company BUT never attained certification. This new role, titled "Continuous Improvement Specialist", requires much of what I WAS doing but not what I am currently doing. And the job requirements states "Six Sigma Black Belt" instead of "Six Sigma Black Belt certification required."
I'm just trying to see if anyone else has experience applying for a role within their own company where they meet roughly 90% of the job requirements but are lacking a certification or something else and what the results were? Do you have any advice or tips for someone wanting to progress their career into process improvement?
Thanks Reddit!
