Hello all,

My mother passed away about a year and a half ago. I was talking with my Aunt the other day and she told me that my mom had started a life insurance policy some years before she passed away naming my sisters and I as the beneficiaries. I've asked my dad about it, but he hasn't been any help. Apparently, he didn't know about it (they didn't have the best relationship). No one knows who the policy was with, or how much it was worth.

I feel sleazy for asking, but is there a way to find any of this information and collect the benefit? Obviously, I would prefer to have my mom around, but if there is money out there that now belongs to me and my sisters, we might as well collect it. We are located in California if that matters. Thank you.
