Hi there. So I took a $9600 personal loan in October of 2021. Monthly payment $300 for 3 years. Life came in the way, (mom got sick) blah blah blah and I was unable to continue making the same monthly payments.
I began working with a consumer credit counseling agency who arranged a lower monthly payment on my behalf. Everything was going smoothly until recently. Basically, the agreement with the lender was that Iād make 3 on time payments to lock in the reduced payment and interest rate. Supposedly, the checks got lost in the mail, sent to Alaska, and then back again before new checks were written out. As a result, this broke my payment arrangement and my account now shows as 66 days past due. The credit counseling agency swears they are working to rectify the situation (get me re enrolled in the program) and have weekly calls with the lender as 500 people or so have been impacted by this.
What should I do? This is going to hit my credit soon and Iām furious. Am I freaking out for no reason? Thanks for any advice.
TDLR: used credit counseling agency, payment arrangement broken, account now delinquent, feel lost in regards of next steps.
