Opportunity Cost is the cost of a decision you make in comparison to another alternative. For example the opportunity cost of financing a new car is on avg 700$ a month or 8,400$ a year.
8400$ a year in a mutual fund index based off the S&P500 kept for 10 years would earn you 66K$
Cars depreciate meaning they will lose value for every mile you drive with them.
The OC here would have cost you 66K$ in un gained money plus the money you paid for the car and maintenance and taxes and insurance that went along with those payments.
