I hate on her a lot but im boutta tell yall why im right

The thing about the Lovers arcana is that they all have the same trope. Hot girl who is early-on love interest and is harassed by bro character. Yukari is the worst example of this.

Ann has a femme fatale concept in that she embraces her sexuality and uses it as a weapon for anyone who comes too close, a beautiful bear trap. She also gets along with the other girls, save for Makoto but the hate is justified because Makoto tried to sell them all out.

Rise is pretty awful, her gimmick is that from the moment she's introduced to the end cutscene in the golden ending, she's slobbering over the main character all the time. she's also a bit of a crybaby and kind of a snob since she was in showbiz, which that plot feels haphazardly strung together but I digress. She's not good but honestly she's more of a comic relief character than anything, plus the carrot on the stick for Persona Shippers. I can't really say she's that bad.

Yukari is a watered-down failed version of this. She's hot by design of course, but she doesn't utilize that in any meaningful way. There's a lot of "touch me and ill make you regret it" but when it comes down to it shes too scared to do anything and just awkwardly brushes off any comments made towards her. She had something going with the "I want to protect people but I'm scared of my own shadow so I heal people" but thats not reflected really in the story other than her theurgy cutscene. theres also the fact that hugging her on the beach is the last meaningful "love interest" moment you have with her, and after that she's thrown away in favour of toaster-chan (who i also dislike but much less so and for different reasons) and thats it.

Her confidant is just "my mom sucks, anyway wanna tap me?" and when you turn her down she doesnt take it well at all. Then there's the Mitsuru incident, where she hates Mitsuru for a while for no discernible reason before the exposition dump where she apologizes and then they forget about it. her whole "my dad is dead :(" thing is meant to garner sympathy but considering you're playing as >! guy whose parents are dead and is filled with death incarnate, and whose best friend is a kinda a douche and his sweetheart is a sad robot girl that he cant even love bc he's about to die !< . She never grows as a character really, just the same old bad-attitude Yukari from start to finish, and I need not mention the Answer (i dont actually know much about the whole shebang but i know Yukari totally whiffs it).

Am I being overly-critical? maybe, but im sick of people insisting she's an S-tier character when she's just third-rate anime slop whose only job is to sit there, heal my party and look pretty. Which is the saddest part, because she'll never be Elizabeth.
