Hi all,
So I have a Bachelor's in French and currently work on the website at my alma mater. I've been working in web editing since graduation a few years ago, but my heart's not in it. I'm in the process of applying to linguistics graduate programs in my state and a little beyond, and I'm super excited for it.
I would like some "academic" friends, like professors or grad students, in any subject really, but the liberal arts is a preference. I think what I miss about college most is the academic community--having a community of people interested in the same things as you, discussing things beyond the every day, deep and important questions and concerns. Don't get me wrong, I can completely talk about everyday things, and in fact I'd like to talk about what's going on in my life outside my academic pursuits, too. But I feel like academics are my kind of people, and I'd like to find friends working and researching and living in that realm. The institution I work at is primarily undergraduate, so I've had a hard time finding friends here now that I'm 27--all the students are too young!
About me--I'm French-American, so I was born and raised in the U.S., but have French citizenship through my father and family over there. I like watching productivity YouTube videos even though they never help (they do give my mood and motivation a boost, though!) and being creative with stickers and journals. My boyfriend is a professor of education at the institution I work at (we met on OKCupid, not in the workplace!) and I care for him very much. My hobbies include journaling, playing the Sims 4 or Animal Crossing, starting to read books I never finish, and eating weed gummies and contemplating the universe.
Thanks all, and have a great day!
