So here I am on Reddit, where all the cool people hang out obviously, looking for a connection with a fellow cool person and a way to grease my writer wheels while stuck in writer's block. I've been blocked since March of 2020 (thanks Covid burnout) and it's certainly been trying. Prior to this I didn't even believe in writer's block so it appears the universe has a sense of humor.

Also thanks to covid I haven't been able to get out and meet people. Even with my vaccine and booster it's still too much of a risk because I'm immunocompromised. I miss having that connection with someone and since I love writing letters it occurred to me today to check and see if there was a penpal subreddit and lo and behold there wasn't just one, but lots. Now, I'll be honest, I haven't had a pen pal since I was 13 but the experience was overall a positive one if I remember back into the dark ages of the 90s that well.

A little about me: I'm a huge nerd, love books, computers, gaming (currently my game obsession is Overwatch on PC), books, and more books. My favorite genre is horror with honorable mentions to sci-fi and erotica. I'm also into fitness and love the gym like its my second home. I'm back in school for programming. My first time around in college I studied history, but unless you're planning on going to law school or teaching that degree doesn't hold much water so computers it is! My spring semester starts on the 18th so I'll be more busy after that starts but still very willing to carve out time for new friends and penpals and it would be great to have someone to share the craziness of school and work with. I do animal rescues as well so you'd never be lacking for cute dog or cat pictures.

What I'm looking for: Someone who enjoys getting to know someone over the medium of the written word. Preferably via email, but once we know each other better I'd be interested in exchanging snail mail as well. Someone who loves books and reading and can happily talk about their favorite authors/books. Even better would be someone also either in or studying programming so we can commiserate on it. Bibliophile nerds go to the front of the line, is basically what I'm saying.
