Every so often, my list of pen pals fizzles out. People's lives get busy, or they no longer find joy in snail mail, or a letter gets lost in the mail, or maybe something else entirely. Whatever the reason, I tend to lose a couple pen pals every few months. I think most of us who have been in the snail mail game for a while understand what I'm talking about.
When my list of people to write back and forth with starts to dwindle down, I reach out to this sub to meet some great new friends to correspond with. So! That's what I'm doing right now... Reaching out to you guys to meet some new faces and create new penpalships. Penpalship is not a word, but it should be.
A little bit about me...
I am a 25-year-old female living in the Pacific Northwest. Washington, to be more specific. My job title is "Community Manager," which essentially means I help create and facilitate brand communities. I started working from home years before the pandemic, and while making my own schedule and working in sweats is nice, I do miss the human connection of being around others in a workplace. I make up for some of that lack of communication via connecting with others via snail mail.
Speaking of snail mail, my biggest hobby is making and sending cards. I do so through r/randomactsofcards, where I have sent over 2,000 cards around the globe in the last five years. It's an awesome community. When I'm not working or snail mailing, I am moving my body in a variety of ways. My main form of movement is powerlifting, but I also run several times per week, and do some hiking when I can. My other hobbies include baking and cooking, reading, and listening to podcasts.
What I'm looking for in a pen pal...
I spend plenty of time emailing for work, so I prefer good ol' fashioned snail mail pen pals.
I am open to communication with anyone of any age, gender, orientation, location, etc.
If you are new to pen-paling and worried about "not doing it right," I assure you, there is no right or wrong way to be a pen pal. I love writing to people new to the snail mail world. It's such an awesome experience getting to be a part of someone's introduction to pen-paling!
I am equally happy to write to seasoned snail mail lovers.
I'd love to talk about how you got into pen-paling, podcasts, working out, baking / cooking, animals, or anything else you'd like to talk about.
I think that covers everything for now! Feel free to reach out to me via comment, PM, or chat if you are interesting in becoming my new pen pal.
Cheers!
Lexi
