25M Texas. It’s been on my mind for years but anyone else like the idea of off grid living? Building a homestead with some acreage?

Post Body

I’ve lived in the city all my life and I think it’s time for a change. I come from a immigrant family background and as far as I can remember when I was a kid I always heard my dad talk about living out in the ranch back at his home country and how he misses it at times but really appreciates modern conveniences. With how things are going nowadays. Microplastics in almost everything we eat, forever chemicals in drinks and the high cost of everything in general. Why not go back to “simpler” times. I’m talking about making almost everything hand made, Have a garden full of fruits and veggies, learn how to preserve and can foods, and use renewable energy sources. Not sure if anyone else feels the same was as i do but I wanna get away from a lot of things. I’m interested in talking to people that may have some experience in this already or that are also interested in this kind of lifestyle! Share your pros and cons. What you miss and don’t miss and really anything in between (: can we just have a homestead with livestock and a huge garden?
