Good afternoon!
I recently lost a long term penpal to breast cancer. We traded emails and hand written letters over the course of 5 years and after the loss of her, I've noticed a weird emptiness to my life.
It's weird to go to my mail box and not find it stuffed with silly letters and post cards from her adventures and stray thoughts. It's also super weird to open my email and just have...nothing new.
So! I'm looking for a new penpal. Age doesn't really matter, although I would ideally like 16 .
A little about me: I'm 25F and currently work in the veterinary industry as a licensed technician. Prior to that, I worked in drug and alcohol abuse rehabs and within the prison system. Even further back than that, when I was but a wee teenager, I did my time and got my soul crushed working in fast food. I've got a lot of weird stories and life events that I honestly wouldn't change for the world. It's made me who I am and I'm proud of that.
I'm a pretty firm believer in the idea the goodness is inate. Bad things and people exist, but something good is always following or precending. I'm definitely a "stand in the rain to see the rainbow" type of person and that bleeds overs into the people I surround myself with. I genuinely think that humanity, nature, existence is good and I am desperately waving tokens of affection at them all. Buuutttt I temper those ideaologies with a pretty brunt and brutal truth: I'm owed nothing and sometimes shit sucks 🤷♀️
I am known to dabble with poetry, drawing (mostly in pencil), and I read a ton of books. A lot of my reading does have to do with my job (lots and lots of boring science stuff), but I'm one of those goobers that likes to kick back with a YA fantasy novel to let my brain have something easy to digest. My other biggest hobby is hiking. I have two dogs that love going on adventures with me and they are basically Instagram models that struggle to look at the camera. I have so many pictures of them! And of random plants I've found along the trail.
If you'd like to exchange emails or snail mail, send me a chat request, please. My DM's are also open, but I'm very dyslexic and they get pretty confusing and easily buried 😅
