Thank you to those who responded to my recent post. I’m grateful and frankly touched by the many responses which have been really helpful. They have helped steer me into thinking that an implant is most probably the right thing for me.
The ED has played a large part (and perhaps is the main source) of so many of my woes. From my porn addiction, to my imploding marriage to my depression and more recently to my diagnosis of bipolar 2.
The key driver for why I think surgery is right for me is the atrophy of my penis which has only recently been confirmed is a real thing by an andrologist and which I have personally def noticed over the course of my worsening ED over the past 10 years. He also said that for some it gets to a point where penetrative sex is not possible so that knowledge in combination with what people here and on other Reddit forums have confirmed have created a higher degree of urgency for me.
My next immediate question then is what are things that can go wrong. The andrologist said there is a risk of infection some things can go wrong with the surgery and leave me with some permanent nerve or functional damage. And as with any surgery there is a risk of death. Similar risks are there with most surgeries so no surprises there.
What I’m really asking for are what are patients’ personal experiences of what they have been unhappy or have regrets about post-surgery or even years down the road.
I know this can be a difficult subject so I appreciate those who are willing to share such experiences.
Thank you very much in advance.
