What’s something you’ve learned this year that will make you a stronger volunteer?
Post Body

So much of the unexpected has happened in these past two years, and it’s worth recognizing that no one is on “plan a”. With all this new time, we are able to acquire new skills that we can bring with us if/when we serve.

After being a preschool teacher for the past year, I’ve learned so much about offering choices, working together with others for success, and how to stand my own ground.

After moving cross country and leaving all my friends and family behind, I’ve learned how to give myself grace during transitions, to embrace new opportunities, and readjustment coping strategies.

And now getting a job as a HIV health educator, I’ve learned so much more about HIV prevention and the virus itself. I’ve embraced the populations I work with and feel much more qualified to join the PC as a youth health promoter.

Feliz año viejo, and as we all look into the new year, I’m hoping we all get many new opportunities to grow.
