Hi all,
Iām mostly a beer drinker but Iām very slowly developing my whisky palate and Iād love to try some more stuff made locally, but Iām totally overwhelmed with options.
Generally speaking, I like sweeter and thicker whiskeys (whiskies?) - my favorite Iāve had in recent memory has been the Westward Stout Cask. I also like Pendleton, Makers, and I remember really liking CW Irwin. I like wheated whiskies such as Weller and Larceny, and Iāve also liked a lot of Japanese whiskies Iāve tried. I donāt much care for scotches or younger vintages in my limited experience but I do enjoy bourbon, small batch Four Roses and 1792 in particular. Locally aside from the Westward stuff Iāve found most of Bull Runās offerings too āhotā for the price, Freeland underwhelming, and Burnsideās many offerings to be hit or miss, though I canāt remember what I have or havenāt had so Iām open to exploring.
I usually drink neat from a glencairn glass.
So, given those parameters, what is made locally (in the PNW) that I should keep an eye out for? Iām in the Milwaukie area so Westmoreland liquor is just up the road from me, if that helps.
Cheers!
