Use an old PC as a server?

Post Body

I'm pretty poor, but I want to get elbow deep in UE5. Problem is, the download size is over 100 GB and all I have running functionally is my laptop currently. My desktop has been going downhill lately (10 year old dual core CPU) so I've had to put it aside because to upgrade the CPU in it means I have to upgrade the motherboard (at least that's what I've been told at microcenter, I'm sorry I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to hardware).

So, has anyone turned an old PC into a sever before? I don't see any problem with it running one program at a time, and it has at least a 500 GB SSD so I should be able to actually store it. The only problem I could see is the fact that all it has is a Quadro 5000 which somehow functions worse than the integrated AMD graphics on my laptop. Also I've been running Windows 11 on my laptop, and the desktop is still running 10.

Feel free to poke fun at my windows fetish, The only time I use Linux is with a Ubuntu shell when I'm coding in C. Thanks in advance for any advice!
