After working lots of overtime, I finally got the budget I wanted for a build. Ryzen 9 5900x, RTX 2080ti, ASUS TUF X-570 plus motherboard, 32gb DDR4 ram, 1300 watt evga 80plus platinum psu, h115i capellix cooler, and evidently I had waaay to much confidence in myself to put it all together… I was pretty impressed with myself, but when I went to boot it for the first time, the fans spun for about 3-4 seconds with lights and then started stuttering on and off, than I had smoke, appearing to come from the cpu. Wtf did I do?! I panicked and instantly ripped the power cord out of the back and it stopped. It was only on for 5-6 seconds max. So I guess my question is, how bad did I screw up and am I out the $2000 I just spent on all these parts?
Update- I took another dive into this morning and I think I found the source of the smoke, my rgb/fan hub seems to have the smell coming from it, it’s a Corsair commander core pro
