After 4 years of daily use, my ATH-ADG1X are starting to wear out, so I'm looking for a new pair of headphones.
What I love about them is that whenever I'm playing a FPS game I know exactly where the enemies are coming from and it's a huge advantage. I'm usually able to hear footsteps that nobody else on the team seems to notice. Also the overall sound quality is great.
I have a $400-500 budget and since I'm also a musician I'm leaning more towards a headphones/modmic combo rather than a gaming headset.
I game alone in my bedroom so open headphones are not a problem.
I also have an Asus Essence STX II soundcard.
The interesting options I have found are :
Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO
AKG K712 PRO
Sennheiser HD 600
Sennheiser HD 650
Sennheiser HD 6XX
Audio-Technica ATH-AD900X
I was also considering the HiFiMan Sundara and Philips Fidelio X2hr at first, but I've read numerous comments about their poor performances in games
I'm also open to other recomendations if you have better ones.
Thank you
