This past April after my bonus came in I was finally able to get the final couple of components to build out a system I'd been lusting after for so long, including a custom hard-tubed dual loop system. A lot of work went into finally getting it all together and making it aesthetically very pleasing. I know it's never a truly "finished" system, but it's something I was hoping I could run without touching for a couple of years. Anyway, COVID hits, and my wife and I decide it's better to relocate back home across the country since I can WFH / remotely and saving on paying rent / utilities is always a good thing. Unfortunately my rig wasn't going to come with me, and it's in storage. :(
What I'm currently working with is a Macbook Pro with an i9 and mobile Radeon, and while it does more or less what I was hoping it would do, I'm realizing I won't be back out to where we were living until late next year, if at all (assuming COVID continues the way it is even with vaccine delivery, etc.). What I'm looking for is whether I should get an eGPU and standalone GPU set up or build a mini-itx gaming set up. It's also worth noting that I'm going between the midwest (in-laws) and south florida (parents) and spending months at a time in each place, and when spending this much time with family, I need gaming as an outlet. I have a Dell 1440p G-sync monitor I brought home during my relocation, so ideally having an nvidia card would be nice but I'm also trying to be somewhat budget conscious about this.
Thanks!
Also ETA - the games I'm most regularly playing:
- Apex Legends
- Battlefield I and V
- and eventually Cyberpunk
