Am I totally an idiot for getting a 2080Ti right now?

I just finished a new build but have been holding off on getting a new graphics card. I am still using my 6gb 1060. I really want a new graphics card and I have decent bit set aside. I know the rumors of the 3000 series are all over the place. Should I wait for a 3000 or just get the 2080Ti now?
