I wanna upgrade my GPU on HP Compaq Elite 8300

So I bought this pc around 2013 and bought with it a gt 710 gpu and it ran quite nicely for a couple of years but now it cant even run minecraft at more than 60 fps, so im thinking to upgrade the gpu because i cant afford to build a new pc, so i was thinking less than 300 dollars would be nice, i tried to do some research on my own but i'm afraid to buy an incompatible gpu so can you guys help?
