Question about SSDs: M.2s SATA vs PCIE?

Post Body

Hi everyone! So a few days ago I bought a 500 GB SSD for my gaming laptop (Lenovo Legion Y720) as I was frustrated about only having 128 GB and constantly running out of SSD storage (I have a 500 GB HDD but you know, it's an HDD.) Anyways, the SSD got here today, I tried installing it, and failed for around three hours. I went back to my Amazon orders page and noticed it is A SATA M.2 SSD. I looked up the specs for my laptop online and noticed that the laptop supports "PCIE 3.0x4" now the question is, is there any way that I can use this SSD? Or is my only option to get a refund and buy the PCIE one? Sorry if I'm bothering, I'm new to the subreddit
