Recently I looked into buying a gamepad/controller to play some sports games and possibly some driving or fighting games. I prefer wired peripherals. I used to have wireless everything, but I got tired of losing battery power in the middle of competition.
The Xbox controllers seem to be a favorite because they're plug'n'play, instantly recognized by Windows. However, they don't make first party controllers with wired options, and even the $150 Elite controller uses AA batteries... How cheap is that?!
PS4 controllers are another option. I like that they're rechargable and you can use a micro USB to connect it without Bluetooth. However, you still need 3rd party software to get it to work with Windows.
Both Xbox and PS4 controllers are @ $60 USD. I just didn't feel like that price warranted all the cons and downsides to each controller...
Then I found the Logitech F310. I paid less than a $20 and the thing is built like a tank. It's instantly recognized by Windows and it feels great. Very similar to a PS4 controller.
I just thought I would share my experience, and recommend the Logitech F310 for gamers on a budget who want a no-hassle, cheap, and reliable option for a gamepad.
