CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 @ stock
Mobo: MSI B450 Tomahawk, BIOS is current
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 running in XMP2
Windows build is current.
After reading numerous forum posts and articles suggesting Ryzen users disable HPET in both Windows 10 and their BIOS, I did just that. Actually, HPET was already off in the OS, even though the device was still present in Device Manger. Uninstalling did nothing, It would keep reappearing. Disabling it instead keeps it disabled.
When I turned it off in the BIOS, however, I ran into a snag. The PC refuses to warm boot. The usual pre-restart closedown procedure happens, the screen goes black, and then... nothing. For five minutes or more nothing happens. The motherboard troubleshooting LEDS cycle per normal, but nothing else happens. The reset button does nothing, either. I end up having to power down and cold boot instead. And then it comes back up without issue.
Have I missed something, or is this just one of those settings where I lost the silicon lottery and have to live with HPET enabled on the motherboard from here on out?
