Worth it to upgrade to 1070 from 1060 3GB?

G'day guys just wanting some opinions on upgrading my GPU. Ive got the 1060 3GB and while its good in the less stressful games I've noticed it starting to struggle in the more intensive games with frequent drops below 60 fps. With the new generation coming out and 1070s becoming more in my budget is it worth it to go out and buy one to future proof my PC a bit more?
Notes - Ive just bought a 1440p panel as well
