PC is quick & slow at different times
Post Body

Hi, sorry I'm not the most tech-savvy person here but I'll try my best to explain.

I've recently been playing this game Rainbow Six Siege with my friends. When loading into a match, I usually load in a couple of seconds (some players load instantly). But sometimes for unknown reasons I get loading times of like 30-60s, which results in making 9 other players wait for me and it is pretty frustrating for everyone.

The only thing I have on permanently is typically Chrome with a number of tabs open. I just switched over to Firefox for just a day or so, having the same kind of tabs open as what I would do in Chrome, but it doesn't seem to fix the issue when I played today.

I usually run the game in Borderless Windowed mode so I can alt-tab out quickly whenever. Switching to full screen mode sometimes help with quicker loading. I also hibernate my PC on a daily basis, only restarting once in a long while or when there is an update that requires it. I have noticed a couple of times recently when I un-hibernate my PC in the morning that it has actually shutdown by itself.

What doesn't make sense to me is, under similar circumstances, why do I have such a great difference in PC performance, and how do I diagnose and fix the problem?

PC Specs:

  • i5-4670 @ 3.4GHz

  • Corsair Vengeance 1600 CL 9 - 2 x 4GB Ram

  • Win 8.1

  • AMD RX480 - 8GB VRAM - With a CRYORIG H7 aftermarket cooler

  • Samsung EVO840 SSD - 120GB (28.3GB free out of 111 Available)

  • Western Digital HDD - 1TB (621 GB free out of 931 Available) - Games are installed here due to space constraints

  • Corsair CS650M 650W 80 Gold Modular PSU

  • I use Avast Antivirus & Malwarebytes (Free version for both).

Apps that are constantly running in the background:

  • Sticky Notes widget

  • Chrome/Firefox (Whatsapp Web, typically some Youtube videos, Spotify (playing/paused), a few Reddit tabs)

  • Teamspeak (sometimes, but the slow loading started even before I started using TS)

  • Google Drive

  • SoundSwitch

  • X-Mouse button Control

  • Steam

  • uPlay

  • Avast

  • Malwarebytes

  • f.lux
