What do you use to check a drive's health without an OS ?
Post Body

I'm trying to check if a HDD that I just pulled out of a PS4 is really dead or not. Ideally I'd plug it in my rig and use any kind of health-checking software and voila but I don't have an extra SATA cable on hand (nor a SATA to USB cable/enclosure).
However I can create bootable USB flashdrives and use the SATA cable of my boot drive to plug said to-be-tested-HDD.

I'm looking for a bootable live tool to be used to check the HDD health. I've so far found mentions of the Ultimate Boot CD that I just tried, but the HDD-related tools available on it are all affiliated to brands (Samsung, WD, Hitachi, etc...) none of which matches the HDD I want to test.

Do you know any other way ? Other software ? Thanks in advance :)

EDIT and solution : Used Hiren's boot CD (used on a flashdrive) that contains among other tools a Linux-based live OS (Parted Magic) that happened to have a health checking utility that confirmed the drive dead.
