Is the r7 1700 even worth it when only gaming and recording, no serious productivity work?

Not true, I have a 7700k. It makes no difference in my fps even when i play overwatch at 280 fps locked.
I7s were designed for multitasking lol.

You're selling the 7700k short if you think it will drop in performance because an individuals has YouTube, chrome, Spotify, ms office, adobe, etc all running.
Just because the r7 exist doesn't mean the 7700k can't multitask.
Now, if you were trying to do some video rendering, streaming, encoding all at once then yes to r7z
For the most part, people don't really utilize their cpus to such an extent.
