TL:DR USB ports on my motherboard worked sporadically. Now they don't work at all despite the fact they all have power. Asrock has been completely unhelpful stating they don't support my motherboard.
This all started about a year ago. I started to notice that my USB ports stopped working every time my computer would restart from an update. It would take me manually restarting the computer to get the USB ports to work again. It only happened when my computer shut itself down too. Never when I did it. And they always started working after the second restart.
Then I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 when it first launched because I love testing. Except after it had installed, none of my USB ports would work. No amount of restarts fixed it this time. So I reverted BACK to Windows 7 with a clean install. Everything started working again. Until last night.
My computer did an update and now none of my USB ports are working at all again. The two completely indifferent techs I spoke with insisted that it was a hardware problem. They had no rebuttal when I told them that every single one of my USB ports still had power. They simply continued to fault hardware.
I have been denied an RMA. No one has been able to help. I don't want to buy a new motherboard but I am fearing that this is not fixable. Anyone know anything about this and maybe how to fix it?
Specs are as follows.
*Motherboard: asrock z87 extreme 3
*CPU: Intel i5 4690k
*600 watt corsair power supply
*gtx 770. 2 cards currently not in sli
Feel free to ask question. I might even have gold for anyone who can help me fix the problem.
