gtx960 to replace 750ti?

I want to swap my 750ti for a 960 without having to replace the PSU, which is stock at this point. Working with 460 watts, would this be possible? The only reason I'm going with a 960 and not a 970 is so I DONT have to replace the power supply. Is there a huge difference between the 960 and 970? I'm relatively new to PC gaming, so any feedback would be great. Thanks guys!
