Question: Why is 60FPS such a big deal?
Post Body

I've been a PC gamer a long time, and I was wondering why everyone here seems to make such a big deal out of 60fps. 60fps, in 2014, looks pretty bad.

I've played Counter Strike on a 60hz display, a 120hz, and a 144hz, and I can't imagine playing competitively on a 60hz display. It just looks jerky and bad. I remember in the 90s, playing Quake at above 60hz (most CRTs could be clocked at 100hz or higher without an issue). Monitors running above 60fps are hardly anything new.

Why is it now everyone seems to think that 60hz is "good enough", and even "great", when monitors like the ASUS VG248QE are so much better than it?

Thanks.
