Post Body

Hi,

I'm an Australian based ex console gamer looking to get into PC gaming.

I don't know if many know this but I'm Australia we get absolutely butt raped when it comes to tech prices.

I'm trying to make a semi budget build. As many second hand parts as possible (but honestly here people still want like 90% of what they paid for it, and it's 3 generations old) so it's not much better.

Currently I have a i5 12500, looking at a Gigabyte z790 mobo ($289 dollarydoos), whatever ddr5 ram I can get in 32gb. I have a 650w modular psu I've pulled from an old machine I bought for a torrent box, I have the m2 SSD with windows etc, I have shit ton of amazon fans I got given, and the current machine has a CoolerMaster airmaster radiator (unsure if will fit the lga1700 chip), and if not I can pick a watercooler up for about $100aud.

Where I come unstuck is the GPU. I need NVIDIA this is non negotiable as the machine will still be used as my Plex/jellyfin server and both only with with Intel or NVIDIA.

I understand that the number at from eg 2080 is the generation. The numbers following that have me confused, same with ti and super.

I want to play Overwatch, maybe some racing Sims like Corsa, old PlayStation Xbox etc emulators, etc. I have a 34in ultrawide and I would like to be able to play at full resolution. So whatever the ultrawide version of 1080p is.

I would like to keep it less than $250aud but could push it higher.

What would folks recommend or am I asking too much?
