Howdy all,
So, I came into a windfall recently and wanted to get myself a new PC. My old one was doing fine but she's 8 years old and I figured an upgrade would be ok. My buddy recommended Cyberpower. Hey, happy to try something that's not Dell.
It has been miserable.
She arrives late despite a expedited order. (That's fine. Its fine. Little bump)
Get her out of the box and get to checking over wiring. I'm no expert but I'm 99% sure its good to go. Plug her in... nothing. Well, the leds turn on (yay) but the usb keyboard/mouse isn't reacting and the hdmi connected monitors say theres no signals. I will spend 6 hours face timing my buddies trying to run down the issue.
So its beyond my abilities, no shame in that. To Geek Squad we go! Takes them not but an hour to find the issue: There's no CPU. Under the coolant was an empty port for the damn thing.
Now, I begin talking to Adam at Cyberpower. His first response when I call is "Ma'am, we're not that stupid". He asks for pictures to prove it happened. I send them and the record from Geek Squad saying "There's no CPU in here".
Get a message the next day "We're checking how the PC was built." (Fine. Annoying but thats corporate shit. I get it. Not Adam's fault).
Get a message today "Nope, we have records that we DID put a CPU in there. Pleasure being of service."
Now, we have issues.
Message him back: "Well the records are wrong, obviously. Where do we go from here?"
Silence
Fine, I'll call. Get Ray on the phone. Ray will not only keep calling me Sir or Dude (not either) but will also get upset when I tell him "That's bullshit" and say he's ending the call over violent language. I ask him for a manager and tell him they're not getting away with this "fucking shit". Manager to call in 48 hours (maybe) and he terminates the call over "extreme language".
I can only assume that the Manager is going to say "No, our records say we're right." and refuse a replacement. Do I just charge back with my bank and kick the CPU-less box back to them? Do I just keep escalating? Any advice would be great.
TL/DR: Cyberpower sent me a CPU-less computer. They claim they did it right. Giving me the run around and I don't know what to do after I get ahold of a manager.
Edit: Folks saying I'm using Reddit to scam Cyberpower, I literally cannot understand what angle you're coming from; how does spending almost 2k for a computer then asking to exchange for an equal product result in a scam?
For those of you in my DMs just saying slurs, obviously I'm reporting you, save yourself the time and scuttling along.
