Really weird fps stutters in Fortnite
Post Body

Hey people,

my friend has extreme fps issues in Fortnite for a few months now. Everything was good but in a short time his framerate started to stutter, he now plays with constant 10 to 180 fps. It’s going up and down in milliseconds. 180 is what he normally plays with, now it’s literally unplayable.

Interestingly it‘s the worst when he has DirectX12 on, a little bit better with DirectX11 and almost playable with performance mode.

He tried everything, changing the graphics API like mentioned with DirectX, lowering graphics settings, checking game files in the Epic Games Store, uninstalling the game, updating all drivers and OS, he even updated to windows 11 because of this. He also used DDU to uninstall his graphics driver completely and reinstalling it.

The problem is he has like 100% CPU usage and 40% GPU usage, so maybe the CPU is suddenly bottlenecking the GPU somehow.

The whole problem only occurs in Fortnite btw.

Yesterday we tried installing my GPU in his PC, which resulted in way better performance, but still not normal. We also checked if it works better with my RAM in his PC, but that wasn‘t the problem. When we tried it the other way, his GPU in my PC, it was really bad again.

He also bought a new CPU, but it didn‘t change anything.

It must be his GPU right? I don‘t see another option.

Thank you in advance :)

His specs: GPU: Gigabyte Aero 4070 12GB CPU: Intel i5 13600K RAM: Corsair Dominator 32GB 3600MHz
