Triple Monitor/Ultra Wide Suggestions?

I'm considering doing a triple monitor set up or getting an ultra wide monitor. Is there any advantage or disadvantages? I typically play RPGs, strategy, FPS (not competitive) games. If I get 3 monitors I would want to put them together and use them as one monitor. I have a budget of around $800. I'm not looking at buying anything immediately and just trying to get an idea of whether or not I should consider doing this so any tips, advice or suggestions are welcome.
