anxious about pc damage
Post Body

I have GAD and its recently manifested as worrying about my being damaged. Mainly im worried about electrical damage.

The every time the power goes out i worry about a surge when it comes back on, when i plug something in im worried static will somehow shock the port, and every time the AC comes on im worried it will cause a surge. Recently my worry shifted to my microwave, which dims the room lights slightly when its used and makes me worried its slowly damaging my pc even tho its done this for at least 8 months and its never bothered me before.

I have a surge protector but the microwave thing is extra worrying since surge protectors dont do anything for brownouts. Money is tight as well and i dont have cash to redo the wiring or for a ups and idk if its actually needed or if im being overly anxious. Idk how big of a deal this is and i kind of wish i never noticed it.

I think a big part of this also is not seeing the damage, thinking my pc is fine but it actually being slightly stutterier or slower. Idk if this is actually possible as ive seen mixed answers. Im so tired of looking at benchmarks and performance charts looking for slight loss that is not there.

Should i assume any slight performance loss is in my head and only troubleshoot damage if my pc becomes borderline unusable?
