So my current gaming rig is also serving as my Plex media server, and therefor needs to be on 24/7 (not ideal, I know. I’m in the process of building a dedicated low power server). Everything was fine until my pc shut down on new years (maybe power outage, maybe windows updates, idk). Since I wasn’t home, I wasn’t able to restart it, so I wasn’t able to access my media until I returned and powered it up. I know there are a few different ways to remote WoL with a Pi or other, more expensive things, but is there a way to do it with no additional hardware since the pc already has a static IP because I use it as a media server?
TL;DR - can I remote start my pc without buying a Pi or other hardware?
