New CPU and mobo but very bad lag and freezing
Post Body

Got my new i5-11400 CPU and Asus Prime B560M-A today. First boot after installing was all good, after that I put in the CD that comes with the mobo with all the drivers and updates and all that. After installing those and restarting a couple times, my computer is just fucked for lack of a better term. It’s incredibly laggy and it freezes to the point where it’s almost unusable, it takes several minutes to accept my clicks and requests to open programs or folders.

I initially thought it had to be something with the drivers or updates that came with the CD, as anyone would, so I tried to revert and remove those and that didn’t work.

Next I thought it could be an issue with a faulty CPU socket on the mobo, nope I think it looks fine and I’ll attach a picture at the bottom for you all to take a look at, also tried reseating the CPU. I tried reseating and swapping RAM slots, that did nothing.

So now I’m left just thinking the only thing it could be is my 600w 80 bronze PSU, so I tried removing the CD drive to potentially free up some power because I thought that not having enough power could maybe be the issue, that did nothing also.

I’m at a complete loss and I’d love some help and ideas, I don’t think it’s the CPU itself but I can’t be sure and I don’t have another computer or compatible mobo to test it with. I would prefer to not have to reinstall windows, mainly because I don’t have a copy of it, but also because I don’t want to lose a bunch of my files and games and programs. Thanks for reading.
