Opinion: Extremely difficult Nuzlocke's are less nuzlocke than regularly difficult nuzlockes

Post Body

I sort of got this feeling watching FlygonHG's videos, but it REALLY sank in during emerald kaizo. Nuzlockes that are so hard that the early game encounters very specifically have to be x or y pokemon, or more obnoxiously X pokemon with Y ability, feel like garbage. What is the difference between a nuzlocke where you're constantly restarting the run, redoing the early game, and re-doing your "first" encounter on a route to get, say, Huge Power Azurill that you need to beat the early game, and just... catching another pokemon when your first encounter isn't that Azurill. The difference is 4 or 5 minutes. Not just 4 or 5 minutes, 4 or 5 minutes *per run*. And that just feels ridiculous to me. It's not challenging, it's not fun, it's not exciting, it's just so tedious to watch, and I can't imagine it's especially fun to play through.

Thanks for coming to my Jan talk.
