Is "team" endurance racing a thing in this game?

Hi all! Just picked up PCars 2 with a friend after having played PCars 1 on and off for a few years. We've been wanting to try endurance racing, but using the same car on the same team.

I'll elaborate:
If anybody has ever watched Top Gear's Endurance racing episode they'll know what I mean. We'd like to both be on the same team, with one person driving for however long is required while the other spectates, pitting, and then switching driver and spectator around to continue the race.

Does that make any sense? Is it possible in this game? I might be asking for too much.
